The Jacob M. Bauer Scholarship

In the 1980’s the United Methodist Men created a scholarship fund, as led by Jacob M. Bauer, with the United Methodist Foundation.  Donations, Meals and Barbeque were given by the United Methodist Men to raise money for this fund.  In 2025, a special committee was formed by the United Methodist Men to pick the recipient of the Jacob M. Bauer Scholarship which was presented on May 11, 2025 at Sunday morning Worship to:

Parker Apisai – Appalachian State University to study Liberal Arts

Jasper Joy Fiddler – UNC Wilmington to study Biology

Marin Sprague – UNC Greensboro to study Studio Art in Media Studies

We are so excited for what God has in store for our scholarship recipients and we pray for them as they enter a new season of growing, learning and leading.

The United Methodist Church Apportioned Funds

The main way we support the ministries of the church is through our apportioned funds (apportionments), a method of giving that proportionally allocates the churchwide budget to conferences and local churches. For United Methodists this method of giving has become a strong, generous tradition.

Together, through our connected congregations, we accomplish what no single church, district or annual conference ever could hope to do alone. In this way, each individual, each family, each congregation gives a fair share for the church’s work. We combine our prayers, presence, gifts and service to make a significant difference in the lives of God’s people.

Below is a chart created by the Dakotas Annual Conference of how those apportioned funds are distributed:
