Music Ministry

Bethany’s Music Ministry

Adult Chancel Choir

The Adult Chancel Choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00.  Our Music Director is Sam Marion; he is also our organist/piano accompanist as well.  He is a great multi-tasker, and is able to manage both roles with great skill.  The adult choir performs a wide range of choral music, from contemporary to traditional to music that reflects other cultures.  We usually present cantatas during the Christmas and Easter Seasons, and offer special music during other times of the year, such as on Music Sundays (typically 5th Sundays of the month.)    Come join us!

Just for Fun Singers

The Just for Fun Singers is what we like to call the back-up choir to the chancel choir!  Actually, we are a group of mostly retired-aged singers who meet twice a month from late August to June to sing “just for fun”…and then we go out to lunch!  We meet on the third and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11:00 AM.  We perform a cantata during the Christmas season and sing several other times during the church year.  We also sing at local retirement homes, a high-point for us, which also gives the residents a joyful and worshipful experience.  No musical experience necessary…just come sing…for fun!

Handbell Choir

The Bethany Handbell Choir has been in existence for over 30 years. Pat Crispell has been our Director for that entire time. We play five octaves of bells and three octaves of handchimes, and often add other instruments when we perform.  We have members that have played from the very beginning of the choir, and members who only started a year or two ago.  Our musical repertoire varies from spirituals and gospel to jazz and contemporary.  If you can count, you can probably play handbells.  We’ll teach you to read music if you haven’t already learned.  Our practice time is from 8:00 to 9:00 on Wednesday evenings from August to June.  We welcome new ringers!
